5th Cavalry Model 1860 Cavalry Saber Civil War
$1,900.00
So rare to find an 1860 Cavalry saber identified to a unit. In this case its the famous 5th Cavalry which fought at all major battles including Gettysburg and was the honor guard at the surrender of Lee to Grant. This is a great example of the officer’s cavalry sword of the Union Army. This one has a Soligen blade (considered the finest blades in the world) and is dated 1862 with inspector’s initials. The 62 date is important because so many of them are dated 1864 and many of those were not issued before the end of the war. This example has the officer’s sword knot in tack.
