17th century rare Venetian sword which was the predecessor to the famed basket hilts of later date. this is double edged with an iconic “cat’s head” pommel. the blade is signed by the maker on both sides the fullers “MENINA”. It is 34 1/2 inches long slightly over 40 inches overall. Spiral fluted leather wrap. A truly fine example of this rare sword.
