Colt Cavalry 45/ Ainsworth inspected

Colt Cavalry 45/ Ainsworth inspected

7,900.00

Colt Single Action Army 45 to be made. All the early 45s were made and issued to the US Cavalry and were the revolvers issued to Custer’s 7th cavalry. 7 1/2 inch barrel, which was the standard length. These revolvers were inspected by civilians hired to approve of their issue to the military. The most desirable are those inspected by Ainsworth, which this one was. The letter “A” appears below the serial number of the frame and on the barrel (see photos). These revolvers were subject to intense use by the military during the Indian Wars and this example is in better than average for these weapons. Locks up tight and indexes properly. When these examples are found in pristine condition they are usually refinished.
